The 6.44-inch phablet will be available from all three operators or contract-free at S$1,038 next month. Pre-orders start from August 23.
Not to be confused at first glance with the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra, unveiled back in June, will retail in Singapore from September 5.
Sony’s first phablet offering packs a massive 6.44-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 SoC and a 3000mAh battery into an impressively slim 6.5mm body that weighs just 212g. The device runs Android 4.2.2 out of the box, making it the first handset from the Japanese electronics giant to do so. Another new addition is stylus input which supports input from any capacitive stylus or metallic tip pen. Like the Xperia Z, its phablet counterpart sports an 8 megapixel rear camera, IP58 water and dust resistance as well as typical connectivity options such as LTE, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.
The Xperia Z Ultra will be up for pre-order starting from August 23 through the respective mobile operator websites. Customers who pre-order will also receive the following complimentary exclusives, worth a total of S$288:
