Western Digital introduces world’s first 2.5-inch NAS drive

Available in 1TB and 750GB capacities, the new 2.5-inch WD Red drives are designed for home and small office NAS systems with multiple drive bays.

Western Digital has launched the new 2.5-inch WD Red NAS drives, a first of its kind. Targeted at users of multi-bay NAS (network attached storage) systems, the new 2.5-inch Red drives come in capacity options of 1TB and 750GB. Also announced was the new 4TB 3.5-inch WD Red NAS drive, catering to the increasing demand for higher capacity NAS drives.

Coupled with the latest NASware 2.0, the new Red drives are touted to deliver the best NAS experience with improved drive reliability and data protection features. The drives also feature 3D Active Balance Plus, an enhanced balance control technology, which significantly improves overall drive performance. The WD Red drives also come with a three-year limited warranty and 24/7 dedicated phone support.
